About Veronica

Who is Veronica Conway?

I am sharing my accomplishments with you not to impress you, but to make you aware of who I am, as well as the direct impact that I am making in the African-American and other communities.

Veronica Conway as a ChildI overcame a challenging and difficult childhood to create a movement within the African-American community, and to live my life purpose.   I was born the child of a former Black Panther who was incarcerated when I was six years old, and who has been incarcerated for the last 33 years. Prior to my father’s incarceration, I attended school under an alias, witnessed police shootouts and experienced death threats against my life. (Yes,that me at 3 years old in the photo, at a political rally.)

At age 18 I experienced what I now call “identity trauma” when I discovered that the (white) mother who raised me for most of my life, was not my biological mother. I searched out, found, and reunited with my (black) biological mother. This was and still is a pivotal moment in my life as it set the stage for my inquiry into what it means to be human, and the meanings that people assign to commonly used words like “mother” and “black” and “free”.

While putting myself through college at UC Berkeley, I began asking the questions about what it means to be Black, and began to literally re-create my own identity. I began to investigate the differences between a powerful Black identity vs. a disempowered identity, and discovering the impact of identity on the performance of the African American community.

At age 31, after discovering the profession of coaching and acquiring the recommended certifications, I created the first gathering of African-American coaches, as well as founded my own coaching company.

As founder of the BPCA, I negotiated deals to bring Success Coaching to organizations such as the Frasernet PowerNetworking Conference, The National Urban League, The National Forum for Black Public Administrators, and many other Black organizations. I personally coached many of the leaders of these organizations as well.

Veronica Conway & George FraserMy life the subject of a documentary film being made for PBS. Daughter of a Panther: From Revolution to Evolution details my personal journey from being a child of the turmoil of the 60’s and 70’s to launching a movement in the African-American community.

I have created  cutting edge financial coaching training programs in the non-profit sector that have transformed the mindsets and behavior of thousands of clients in low-income and urban communities.

I am co-founder of a coaching company that transforms the behavior and performance of celebrities, athletes, CEO’s and entertainers.

I have coached leaders at Fortune 500 companies, the government, philanthropic and non-profit sectors. I have assisted clients in adding millions of dollars to their bottom line, and I have coached numerous people into their own businesses, with sustainable revenue models.

I am a Certified Coach and will soon be a Master Certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming Practitioner.  You can read more about me at VeronicaConway.com

Your story is truly inspiring!! I just subscribed to The Black Paper. I enjoy interacting with people that are in line with my beliefs. I constantly battle with my college classmates on a social networking site about what is going on with our people. They constantly blame others when I feel that we need to look within ourselves(communities, etc.) It is time to stop blaming others!! Thanks!

Thank you Stacey. I am happy that you are holding your ground, there is really no more time for a victim identity in our community.

Great story. I grew up in Hunter’s Point in the 60’s & 70’s. I am a product of your father’s movement as well as other community activist that spoke up on behalf of black people that were not being dealt a fair hand. When other’s were fearful there were some that demanded change that has helped to influence all man kind “Go Obama.” I hope you and your parents are proud as I am for a positive image in the White House that looks like us, feels like us and willing to do what’s best for all man kind.

I am proud of your accomplishments and look forward to becoming a coach through your program so I too can be positive part of the Obama movement. Let me know what’s required to register!

Much Luv

Veronica,
Would you say that your work is similar to Dr. Frances Cress Welsing in that we are the parents of humanity and that healing of self is the most important task of our life time? Racism exists and will continue to exist until we as a people terminate it, the task will depend on the strength of the people which comes down to the strength of the individual and a clear understanding of what exactly we are dealing with.

I applaud your work and understand your background for your concept of healing. I look forward to your blogs and continued success.
